Double Win @ PSGKA Race #3
Jr II 206 Podium
Typical Pacific Northwest spring weather was in the forecast for the whole weekend, with intermittent rain the night before and throughout the race day. We entered PSGKA Club Race #3 running 2 classes, as usual: Junior II 206 and Tag Jr.
In 206 we had only one other participant in our class, but Asad was glad to learn that all 206 classes were being combined into a single run group, which meant we would run in a solid 10+ kart field with Sr 206 and Masters 206. It took us both practice and the quali session in the morning to incrementally change the kart setup to the “full rain” one. Asad was was able to squeeze as much as possible from each setup, securing P3 overall in the qualifying (P1 in his class). Rolling race starts were staggered for this group, with Juniors taking the green flag first, and two other groups following seconds later. Asad took the lead in pre-final and never let go of it until the end of the day. Win in the pre-final with 5.87s margin, and win in the final with 15.2s margin. Nicely done!
In Tag Jr, Asad ran with two other racers. Asad qualified first, got P2 in pre-final, and was looking for some action in the finals, battling with Gudeta Gardner for the win. Unfortunately, Gudeta had engine/carb issues, and had to retire in the first lap of the final race. Asad took home the win in Tag Jr too.
Happy racer taking home some cool hardware 😀
Overall, very happy with the results and looking forward to our next race in less than two weeks, this is a big one - Padholder Supercup @ MAC Track.
