Jr II 206 Podium - Asad gets the WIN
Saturday Night Shootout X was the 10th Annual race event held at Tri-City Kart Club. It is the biggest annual race event in the Pacific Northwest, with 139 entries. Asad ran in two classes Jr II 206 as usual, and 100cc Junior for the 2-stroke. The format was Friday afternoon practice sessions, culminating in qualifying after sunset under lights, followed by Saturday afternoon sessions comprising of Heat 1, Heat 2, and Finals under lights.
Jr II 206 had a pretty big grid of 19 racers, and we worked to find speed throughout the weekend. Asad was on point, and the equipment worked really well throughout the weekend. We qualified P8 on Friday, focused on what we could improve further, and had a really strong Saturday. P4 in Heat 1, P4 in Heat 2, and a stunning WIN in the finals! Asad and Lewis Dilley had a spectacular run in the finals, practically walking away from the rest of the competition. Asad was in P2 right on Lewis’ bumper for the whole race, and then made a clean and calculated move 3 turns before checker flag, taking home the W! Congrats Lewis on P2! In 100cc Junior it took us longer to find speed. Once we got the equipment dialed in, Asad’s goal was to focus on hitting his marks and removing any distractions while on track. He qualified P3, got P4 in Heat 1, P3 in Heat 2, and P2 in the Finals. Solid result, we are very happy! The direct link to watch the finals race in this class is here.
Overall, the race was a blast, Asad demonstrated great performance across two classes, and was the only racer that night who has climbed on the podium twice!
